First Cup—Poetry Friday
Spiritual Direction
Then the Silence leads us in
dancing songs and reflective prayer,
moving to hydrangea-rhythms
deep in the earth,
in the hardness of our hearts,
high in the clouds.
Wounds bleed again and are cleansed
Minds weep again and are soothed
Hearts soften and see
We share cookies and tea and talk,
knowing the world may be a better, certainly
lovelier, place if only we were more
silent, better dancers, better lovers,
surrounded by hydrangeas
sipping tea, nibbling cookies.
It is a fine Eucharist—tea and cookies.
